Oscars 2013:You Win Some...You Lose Some

Naomi killed it! That dress, That hair. Need I say more?

Jennifer's gown was perfection from front, back and side! The color, texture and shape is lovely. She looked so elegant and youthful. The backwards necklace added something extra!

Jessica was really channeling the silver screen sirens of yesteryear. She really turned on the glam and sexy.

That plunging neckline could have been potentially hazardous to pull off but Samantha did it with grace. I love the color, cut and the pockets. Very chic and understated.

Anne has been campaining for this Oscar for a long time and I am surprised that she chose THIS to wear.
She looked like a deer in headlights, but not in her eyes. Why show your nipples on the red carpet it's very gauche! And didn't anyone ever tell Anne that a necklace with a high neck is a No No? A pair of statement earrings would have been perfect!

I am a hardcore Nicole Kidman lover! Most of the time I feel as if she can do no wrong. Think back to Oscars 2007 and that red Balenciaga...To die for. This, not so much. There is just something about it that screams wrong and don't get me started on the hair.

Melissa is awesome, there is no denying that. This dress soes absolutely nothing to flatter her glorious fuller figure. It looks odd and the placement of the ruching annoys me. It looks like a sweat dress. She should have gone with sometime more elegant.

There really isn't much to say about these looks but these were the definite "Why's?" for me. I absolutely hated Halle's Versace. It made her look to rough and unfeminine. She is so gorgeous and I would have loved to see her in color. Brandi honey why were you even at the Oscars? I don't know who designed your dress but I am assuming they hate you as much as Leann and your plastic surgeon. One lift of the arms and what we could have been subjected to...yuck! Kerry, Kerry, Kerry...I love this Miu Miu gown but I had to put you on the worst list because you look unbelievably unhealthy. That dress looks way too loose and you look very gaunt. Kerry is undeniably one of the most beautiful in Hollywood but she is looking like a bobble head!

Who were your favorites? Which looks did you hate?

Rocky Balboa.

"Life's not about how hard of a hit you can give...it's about how many you can take, and still keep moving forward."

Have you ever had one of those weeks where you feel like every little thing is defeating you? It just seems like it's one thing after another. When I feel this way, I don't even want to face the world. I want to just stay inside cuddled up under a blanket and watch endless episodes of HIMYM. Then I think to myself "The world doesn't stop just because you have a case of the blues." and I drag myself up and face the day. I have been really inspired by Rocky Balboa lately and I wanted to show that in what I am wearing. Gray hoodie? check! Warm hat? Check? Stairs? Check (well not exactly...) I definitely wanted to put a feminine spin on an otherwise athletic look so I added some sparkle. A little sparkle goes a long way!

Cashmere Dream...

Lately I have been wearing more and more neutral colors and a whole lot of cashmere. I am enamored with the feel of cashmere, it has such a soft and luxurious feel. I feel like a million bucks when I am wearing it. The thing with neutrals is to throw in some texture, prints and some statement jewels. I am so mad that the polka dots on these jeans didn't show up in all of the pictures because they are super cute! I decided that turquoise would look very elegant with the shades of brown in my look, I also skipped wearing a statement necklace in favor of an ornate pair of earrings. I am really getting into statement earrings lately. I will be wearing them a lot more. They really look great with a ponytail. I love mixing casual with elegant.

I haven't been the most consistent blogger and I want to apologize. These past two weeks have been very busy for me. A lot of new things going on that I cant't wait to share. Thanks for sticking around!

Mani Monday: Bauble

I have to admit that I am addicted to nail polish. Over the years I have collected quite a few colors. Okay, a bit more than a few but I am sure you can relate! There is something exciting about buying a new polish and the prospect of trying something spontaneous, something different. Your nails are a great way to express yourself with minimal commitment and it's tons of fun! Nails are a truly fabulous way to show your true colors (bad pun alert!!!) Every Sunday I find the time to give myself a manicure. It's a ritual. I prefer to do my own nails opposed to going to a salon for a few reasons. One being that I am extremely antsy and hate to sit down for long periods of time, two being that I feel like I can experiment more when I am doing them myself. It's definitely harder to convey what you want through explanations sometimes and then you feel disappointed when it doesn't come out exactly how you envisioned it in your mind. I am a take charge kinda gal. I get a lot of compliments on my nails so with that being said I present to you the first of many Mani Monday's.

With this particular manicure I was inspired by the big bauble ring I am wearing. I just love the way it sparkles and wanted to incorporate that into my nails. My favorite kind of glitter polish is any one that has hexagonal glitter in it. The hex shaped ones give a really eye catching effect. I also shaped my nails a little bit pointier than usual. I have very round nails naturally so a round almost stiletto shape suits me the best. I also think they are flashier and that is a must with this look!

Neutrality.

There is a very cool, clean quality in neutral colors. I decided that with this look I wanted to mix a somewhat bold color and print with the calm neutrals to give it a little something extra. I think the textures of this look also work really well together. The sheerness of the blouse, the peek of leopard, the wool and mink on the coat really work and add an interesting factor. I also kept the accessories to a minimum so they wouldn't distract from the focal point of the look. I am also debuting my beautiful birthday gift...the ever beautiful Etoupe 35cm Birkin!! I had been eyeing this bag for a while and have mentioned it more than once to my fiance. Good to know he listens! I was so thrilled when I untied the Hermes ribbon to see this beauty beaming back at me from the big orange box. I just love the color because it matches with everything. I also want to apologize for being MIA for a bit but the holidays were very eventful and draining(Christmas, my birthday, NYE all back to back) and I needed a break from everything lol I spent a lot of time catching up with the real housewives of...everywhere! But it feels good to be back!!
